Handwoven on a peddle floor loom in Teotitlán del Valle by the artist Woven during her one month residency in Mexico Thread Caravan.

The three woven rugs she made in Oaxaca were an opportunity for the artist to play with the scale, color, and pattern of previously realized works. Her intention was to create a small series of thoughtfully handcrafted goods to bring comfort to the home. Though this is just the start of a longer, ongoing project first dreamed of during the pandemic, the artist learned a great deal from this initial opportunity to think more about home decor. Particularly in one alters their style from one that is intuitive and solitary to one that is planned and collaborative.
