Rug Weaving Workshop
Rug Weaving Workshop
Let's weave a rug! In this 6.5 hour workshop, students will learn the basics of large-scale frame loom weaving to create a 30" x 16" decorative rug to display in your home. Your instructor Jessie will walk your through each step of the textile making process, from warping the loom, to planning and drafting a design, to learning a variety of tapestry techniques. You will also learn rug finishing methods for completing your piece once it is removed from the loom. Each student will leave class not only with a functional art-object but with a solid understanding of the medium to continue your practice independently.
In addition to a demonstration, a slide presentation will be conducted, sharing a variety of resources for sourcing unique materials, offering inspiration and additional technical understanding. All materials will be provided, and a PDF with a list of resources will be sent to you after class.
Refreshments will be served!
This class will take place in my art studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Additional information will be sent to you via email once you are registered for the course. The first session is being offered at a slight discount as an early bird special!
